‘Blister’ – play reading with Sarah Peters

Saturday 16th October 2021, 5-6:15pm Bridgewater Arts Centre – 507 Mount Barker Road, Bridgewater SA As part of Bridgewater Arts Centre’s Festival of Pilgrimage, Sarah Peters conveys her experience of the Camino and the people she met. “You’re following little yellow arrows across a country, which is kind of crazy”. In 2016, playwright Sarah Peters walked the Camino de Santiago, an 800-kilometre hike across Northern Spain that has been travelled by pilgrims for centuries. She went to discover the stories of other adventurers – but she also had to confront her own. Drawn from encounters with real people walking ‘The Way’, Blister explores what happens when daily life is reduced to a 10 kilo pack, a pair of boots, and a series of yellow arrows pointing you in the right direction…most of the time. “The central protagonist in Blister, Rosie, is based primarily on Sarah Peters’ experience with a bitRead more…‘Blister’ – play reading with Sarah Peters

After the Storm – new date thanks to Covid

Supported by the Adelaide Hills Council | Part of Winter Words 2021 There is nothing like coming together to celebrate the power of true, personal storytelling. This is the tradition of New York’s “The Moth” but it is also the age-old tradition around campfires and within families. On this night seven stories will be told from people’s lives – no fiction, no fantasy, just stories well told from people’s lives. Stories that reflect the humanity, the joy, the grief of people living each day. This show starts with the theme, “After the storm” with storytellers exploring the theme, no doubt in unexpected ways. Since each story is true and every voice authentic, this show will dance between documentary and theater, creating a unique, intimate, and often enlightening experience for the audience.  Rachael Mead, author of  The Application of Pressure has been commissioned to assist each storyteller with thanks to AdelaideRead more…After the Storm – new date thanks to Covid
