After the Storm – new date thanks to Covid
Supported by the Adelaide Hills Council | Part of Winter Words 2021 There is nothing like coming together to celebrate the power of true, personal storytelling. This is the tradition of New York’s “The Moth” but it is also the age-old tradition around campfires and within families. On this night seven stories will be told from people’s lives – no fiction, no fantasy, just stories well told from people’s lives. Stories that reflect the humanity, the joy, the grief of people living each day. This show starts with the theme, “After the storm” with storytellers exploring the theme, no doubt in unexpected ways. Since each story is true and every voice authentic, this show will dance between documentary and theater, creating a unique, intimate, and often enlightening experience for the audience. After the June concert was cancelled to Naomi’s ill health, we have shifted the date to July 3rd. Apologies for the many who booked. Those who can’t come on July 3rd will be reimbursed. One of SA’s best voices with a swag of awards to her name! Not to be missed! For this special, intimate performance at the Bridgewater Arts Centre, Naomi will perform duo, with her bandmate Tom Kneebone (guitar). In 2016, Keyte was named ‘Best Live Voice’ at the National Live Music Awards. 4 Women with a Palette 6-29th August 2021 – SALA Exhibition
This SA Living Arts (SALA) Exhibition will be each weekend in August at Bridgewater Arts Centre (BAC)- Fri to Sun each weekend. Friday and Saturday 10am-4pm Sunday 1-4pm Come and talk to the artists. One will always be in attendance over the course of the month. The launch was cancelled in favour of a celebration on the last day of the exhibition celebrating the exhibition. It is Sunday 2-4pm. 19th/20th Feb – Sevenfold
Sevenfold, favourites at Bridgewater Arts Centre, are playing with us as part of The Fringe on Fri 19th and Sat 20th Feb 2021. ‘Connie’ (Youtube below) is an example of one of the ‘front’ singers, Liz Dyson. Sevenfold are a six piece local Adelaide band who clearly can’t count. Fusing rock, folk plus rhythm & blues and blending rich harmonies, strings, drums and guitars- they play a mixture of original songs and covers. Sevenfold have recently released their new CD “Dreaming in Waves” featuring 12 original songs.
Nov 7th – Leigh Newton and Friends
Leigh is a singer-songwriter coming out of the folk tradition, writing in secular and Christian contexts and singing around Australia. Leigh has been joined by Freya, Keeley, Erin, Skye, Chris, Jasmine and Tanya (3 gens) for family weddings and funerals, and this is their debut public performance. The family members have sung and recorded with a range of choirs, including Adelaide fine music choir Lumina (Chris and Skye) and touring internationally with Adelaide Chamber Singers (Chris).
Sevenfold Album Launch
Sevenfold is appearing at Bridgewater Arts Centre on Friday 28th Feb 2020, 7:30pm. They appeared at the Arts Centre in early 2019 and continue to write and perform around SA. Sevenfold is an eclectic 6-piece band of local, seasoned musicians that performs a lively acoustic/electric fusion of rock, folk, rhythm & blues. They perform a mixture of original songs and quirky covers.
Rustflower and Jacob Arthur
Rustflower bring to life the stories and characters of Australia, (and the occasional love song), wrapped up in catchy melodies and harmonies. A feature of Rustflower is the shared song writing and vocals by Pete and Kerrie Arthur, giving Rustflower its great diversity. Pete’s earthy voice and story-telling style sits well in the camp of other Australian story tellers like Paul Kelly and Shane Howard. With insightful life observations, Pete sees life from a new angle and colour.
